Bala Umana is a seasoned banker with over two decades of professional experience in the banking and financial services industry. His expertise spans corporate and commercial banking, retail and consumer banking, credit risk management, and business development. Bala previously served as the Ag. Regional Bank Head at Fidelity Bank PLC, where he was responsible for driving business growth, overseeing financial operations, and ensuring exceptional customer service across multiple branches.
Bala’s career began in commercial and retail banking at Access Bank Plc, where he gained valuable experience in financial institution marketing, international trade financing, and risk assets evaluation. He subsequently held key roles at First City Monument Bank and Equitorial Trust Bank now Sterling Bank, where he was responsible for new business development, cross-selling financial products, and customer relationship management.
In his tenure at Fidelity Bank, Bala has held several leadership positions, including Branch Leader for multiple branches and Head of Consumer Sales/Affinity Banking. He has consistently demonstrated his ability to drive results, mentor and develop staff, and implement strategic initiatives to achieve business objectives.
